International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 3 December: AI and new technologies at the service of disability https://www.imt.fr/en/international-day-of-persons-with-disabilities-3-december-ai-and-new-technologies-at-the-service-of-disability/ Wed, 04 Dec 2024 11:05:02 +0000 https://www.imt.fr/?p=4102 On Tuesday December 3, to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the general management of IMT and Télécom Paris organized a day on the theme of “AI and new technologies at the service of disability”.

IMT is strongly committed to inclusivity and actively supports individuals with disabilities, ensuring an equitable and accessible environment for its personnel and students alike. IMT demonstrates its commitment through various research projects aimed at advancing inclusivity and accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

Afternoon events, in hybrid format, are open to the public upon registration. The program included:

2 pm – 3.45 pm | ROUND TABLE (in French): “Innovative integration solutions for industrial companies”

  • Hosted by Martine Assar
  • With the AMIPI Foundation, Airbus, Naval Group, Siemens and AANAT

4.30 pm – 6 pm | CONFERENCE (in French) : “Our plural intelligences”

  • Introduction by Cécile Dubarry, Executive President of IMT
  • Joseph Schovanec: autistic philosopher and writer

“Intelligences have always been plural. While the arrival of so-called artificial intelligence has upset the certainty of those who mistakenly believed that there was only one type of intelligence, it is also in line with observations of human biodiversity, especially as embodied by situations of disability. Different modalities of intelligence, often invisible, are asserting themselves, weaving a new universe that’s both human and digital. If being disabled often involves being a walking human laboratory, it’s up to us to explore how this difference is also the crucible of tomorrow’s performance.”
